Accepting Limitations

“I’m me, so who you? You’re not me, you’re not me” — Weezy.

We were taught to have no limits. We were taught we were equal in skill.

But the truth is, we are not all the same. You have different gifts and talents than I do. We both have limitations on what we can and cannot do. As a 6 foot 6 black man, I could never be a good horse jockey. I’ve accepted that. Similarly, although I know I was gifted in basketball and played professionally, Michael Jordan and Lebron James are more skilled than I am. I could not spend my whole life trying to be like them. We were built differently. Accepting limitations is difficult, but it is a beautiful thing. To accept our limits is to set us free to do what we are fully capable of.
